About

The Vyssia Festival is a cherished tradition deeply rooted in the history and heart of Nea Vyssa. Held every year over the three-day period of July 23–25, it celebrates the feast of Saint Paraskevi, bringing together religious devotion and the cultural identity of our community.

The celebrations begin with a variety of cultural and sporting events organized by the Nea Vyssa Cultural Association "Stefanos Karatheodoris", in collaboration with local organizations and community groups.

Throughout the three-day festival, visitors can enjoy:

  • Theatrical performances and live concerts
  • Choir performances and book presentations
  • Football and basketball tournaments
  • Traditional dance performances by the Association's dance groups and guest folk dance ensembles
  • Exhibitions and activities showcasing local culture and traditions

A central focus of the celebration is the Holy Monastery of the Holy Protection (Agia Skepi) and Saint Paraskevi, where the festive Great Vespers service is held on July 25, drawing large numbers of worshippers.

The day's celebrations culminate in the village square with:

  • An awards ceremony honoring local students
  • Traditional folk dances performed by the Association's dance groups and invited ensembles
  • A grand village festival featuring live music, dancing, and free participation for people of all ages

The Vyssia Festival is much more than an annual event. It is a celebration of faith, tradition, and the shared identity of the people of Nea Vyssa. With dedication and pride, the Nea Vyssa Cultural Association "Stefanos Karatheodoris" organizes the festival each year, preserving the customs, traditions, and spiritual heritage passed down through generations.

We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate with us!
