General
The Cultural Association of Nea Vyssa «Stefanos Karatheodoris» was founded in 1977 to rescue, preserve and pass on the cultural heritage of the area's refugee ancestors to new generations. In the years that followed, the association expanded into social, informational and recreational fields, contributing to the cultural and overall advancement of the local community.
Our identity
The Association was named in honour of the Karatheodoris family which, with the old village of Bosna — today's Nea Vyssa — as its birthplace, has produced distinguished physicians, scientists and diplomats throughout the historical course of our country, culminating in the internationally renowned mathematician Constantin Carathéodory. Their example and history form a great cultural legacy for all of Greece and a special honour for the people of Nea Vyssa.

Our objectives
Beyond highlighting the personality and the wide-ranging, extensive work of the great scholar Stefanos Karatheodoris, and of the Karatheodoris family as a whole, the Association's objectives are:
Preserving heritage
Preserving and spreading the local cultural heritage.
Strengthening culture
Strengthening cultural activity in Nea Vyssa.
Showcasing our place
Attracting visitors and boosting the local economy through cultural activities.
Education & culture
Raising the cultural and educational level of its members and, by extension, of all residents of Nea Vyssa and the wider area — young people in particular.
To achieve the above objectives, the «Stefanos Karatheodoris» Cultural Association of Nea Vyssa has demonstrated rich activity through cultural events, the revival of traditional customs, initiatives that highlight the work of the Carathéodory family within the Carathéodory Museum, educational programmes with traditional dance lessons for children and adults, social and volunteer initiatives, as well as cooperation and networking activities with institutions and other associations.
Annual events
The annual events organised by the association include the yearly memorial service for Constantin Carathéodory, the Bey custom, Clean Monday celebrations, the feast of Saints Constantine and Helen, and the «Vysseia» festival.

World Mathematics Conference
One of the most significant events the association has organised is the World Mathematics Conference, held with great success in Nea Vyssa in 2000.

The association collaborates with cultural societies and organisations from the wider Evros region and across Greece, having taken part in various events both within Greece (Megaron Concert Hall, Herodion, Epidaurus, Ancient Olympia, Lycabettus) and abroad, in countries such as Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey and Egypt.
The association also works closely with all the bodies of the Municipality of Orestiada and the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, receiving moral and material support across every area of its operation. Its members and the residents of Nea Vyssa actively support its events and activities.
