About

World-renowned researchers and academics from 30 institutions across 11 countries will gather in Northern Greece to participate in the proceedings of the Symposium, which will take place across Thessaloniki, Stagira, Avdira, Alexandroupoli, Nea Vyssa, and Orestiada.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth, a group of scientists and engineers— all influenced by the application of thermodynamics to the behavior of materials— will initially convene at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for a symposium on the application of thermodynamics to the behavior of complex materials.

The participants will then spend a day in Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle, discussing the implications of the Second Law of Thermodynamics in a real walking discussion at the ancient archaeological site of Stagira.

Afterwards, they will continue to Alexandroupoli, having first passed through the ancient city of Avdira, the birthplace of Democritus, for the continuation of their dialectical discussions on thermodynamics, concluding in Nea Vyssa, where a museum dedicated to the Karatheodoris family has recently been established.
