Tembelekia is a traditional Christmastide (Twelve Days of Christmas) custom celebrated in Nea Vyssa on December 25 and 26. It consists of the community's traditional Christmas carols, performed by young people accompanied by the ntaïres (frame drum). The custom also features zoomorphic masquerades, such as the "Kamilaris" (Camel Handler/Camel Figure), with participants wearing masks, bells, carrying staffs, and other traditional accessories.
As the carolers arrive at each house, they begin with songs of praise even before entering. Different carols are sung at the entrance of the house, while others are dedicated individually to the members of the household. After the performance, the host or hostess offers the carolers traditional treats and monetary gifts.
In 2019, Tembelekia was inscribed on the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Greece.
