Folklore Museum of Nea Vyssa
The Folklore Museum of Nea Vyssa is housed in a historic residence donated by the Godosis family, offering a unique setting for preserving and showcasing the history and cultural heritage of the region.

A living place of memory and knowledge
The residence is linked to the late Papachristos Godosis, one of the first priests of Nea Vyssa, and to the family's tradition of priesthood. With respect for the building's history, the museum's rooms were arranged to highlight different aspects of the life of the Vyssiots. The museum was created with the contribution of people from Nea Vyssa and the wider Vyssiot community, with the aim of keeping the region's history and traditions alive and passing them on to the next generations. The Museum was inaugurated on 23 July 2026 by His Eminence Damaskinos, Metropolitan of Didymoteicho, Orestiada and Soufli.

The Godosis family residence
The museum is housed in the historic residence donated by the Godosis family, linked to the late Papachristos Godosis and the family's tradition of priesthood. Its rooms were arranged with respect for the building's history.
The life of the Vyssiots
Through traditional objects, family heirlooms, photographs and recreated rooms, visitors discover the way of life and customs of earlier generations.
The Vyssiot dowry
A special place in the exhibition is held by the Vyssiot dowry, together with the traditional bedroom — scenes of domestic life as earlier generations knew it.
The Metropolitans' room
A distinctive part of the museum is the room recalling the residence's historic use, where the Metropolitans were hosted during their visits.
Inauguration of the Folklore Museum
On 23 July 2026 the Folklore Museum of Nea Vyssa opened its doors, inaugurated by His Eminence Damaskinos, Metropolitan of Didymoteicho, Orestiada and Soufli, in the presence of residents of Nea Vyssa and friends of the museum. Relive the moments of the day through the event's photo album.
